This course takes place over 2 days - Tuesday 8th October and Wed 9th October from 09:30-17:00

This is an IN PERSON course taking place at the PCS Building 160 Falcon Road, London SW11 2LN
Course content:
1. The aims of immunisation, national vaccine policy and schedules
2. The immune response to vaccines and how vaccines work
3. Vaccine preventable diseases and vaccines for diphtheria, tetanus, polio, Hib, pertussis, hepatitis B, measles, mumps, rubella, rotavirus, HPV, pneumococcal, meningococcal disease (all strains), flu, COVID* and shingles.
4. The different types of vaccines, their composition and the indications and contraindications
5. Current issues in immunisation
6. Legal issues in immunisation
7. Documentation, record keeping and reporting
8. Storage and handling of vaccines
9. Correct administration of vaccines
10. Adverse events following immunisation
11. Communicating with patients, parents and carers about vaccines
12. Strategies for optimising immunisation uptake
13. Next steps to competency
