Pre-Reg Paramedic

Would you like a Pre-Reg Paramedic student to do a placement at your surgery?

 

We are excited to inform you of our collaboration with St George’s, University of London on Pre-Reg Paramedic Student placements for General Practice.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the placement the student should be able to:

​

  • Act in accordance with the HCPC “Guidance on Conduct and Ethics for Students” (Summative)

  • Demonstrate safe and effective communication with service users

  • Discuss or undertake relevant history taking and physical examination as per presenting complaint

  • Begin to demonstrate critical reasoning and decision-making

  • Discuss and recommend safe and effective treatment options for service users

  • Recognise limitations of their role and explore opportunities to access appropriate resources in developing practice

  • Apply evidenced based practice in the management of a patient

  • All students would be expected to have a named supervisor and a point of contact for the first day of placement.

Placement dates for Academic year, 24/25

  • 7th October 2024 to 25th October 2024 – 3 Weeks

  • 31st March 2025 to 20th June 2025 – 9 weeks

 

All student placements will be for 1 week (37.5 Hours)

Renumeration 

We are currently looking for 7-day placements for third year students between 7th October 2024 to 25th October 2024 and 31st March 2025 to 20th June 2025.

 

NHSE calculates tariff based on 1 FTE = 37.5, so this equates to approx. £142 per week. Total per student for the 5-day placement would be £142.00
