Independent Prescribing Courses for Pharmacists 2025/26

SWL Training Hub are pleased to promote the following programmes made available by NHS England WT&E

Independent Prescribing Courses for Pharmacists 2025/26

The ability to independently prescribe is crucial for pharmacists delivering care across the NHS. Working with partners and stakeholders, NHSE and WT&E are developing funded training offers for pharmacists aiming to become independent prescribers.

The National NHS England WT&E Independent Prescribing training offer for 2025-26 is now live.

Please see the NHS England WT&E Independent Prescribing website for further details on NHS England funding eligibility criteria and approved course providers and intakes, including University College London (UCL).

Please circulate and promote this offer to potential learners, employers, colleagues and relevant leads within your organisations and systems.

For all learners/employers:

  • London learners may apply to any provider including those outside of the London region, as per the previous year’s offers.

  • Learners must meet all eligibility requirements on the website and apply to only approved providers to receive NHS England WT&E funding.

  • Learners and employers should review all IP course options including those outside of London when considering which course to apply to. London has limited GPhC accredited IP provider capacity. Please note that the UCL course was significantly oversubscribed in 2024-25.

UCL cohorts, application timelines and change for 2025-26:

  • Two intakes – Sept 2025 & March 2026.

  • New – For 2025/26, UCL will accept applications from learners from all three categories of practice, see the national website for details of these categories.

  • UCL applications will open at 09:00 on Monday 9th June and close at 09:00 on Monday 14th July 2025.

  • Application timelines for Spring 2026 will be shared in Autumn 2025.

  • PCPEP learners must include a copy of their CPPE IP authorisation certificate with their application if applying to UCL. PCPEP learners who do not include their CPPE IP certificate will not be included in the application review process for a place on the UCL course. It is the learners’ responsibility to provide this certificate.
