CPD-accredited fit note training

Fit notes are issued over 11 million times a year in England, yet 63% of GPs report having received no formal training in sickness certification. This 2-hour interactive session  delivered by Dr Ballal Seddique, GP and Clinical Lead for the Connect to Work programme, and Dr Sean Young, GP and Occupational Health physician gives clinicians a structured, practical framework for fitness for work decisions, combining evidence-based teaching with case-based discussion and small group exercises.

The session covers:

  • The history and evolution of fit notes, including the 2022 expansion of issuing rights to non-doctor clinicians

  • The evidence base for work as a determinant of health

  • The legal framework — what a fit note is, what it is not, and when it should and should not be issued
