About the event

The South West London Training Hub is happy to welcome back Dr Kevin Fernando, who will be delivering this Diabetes Update.

This session will equip clinicians with the knowledge and confidence to apply the latest recommendations from the NICE NG28 (2026) Type 2 Diabetes guideline in primary care, with a particular focus on improving outcomes beyond glycaemic control. Participants will explore contemporary approaches to the assessment and management of dyslipidaemia, including current lipid targets, emerging therapeutic options, and their role in reducing cardiovascular risk in people living with diabetes.

The session will also address the interpretation of abnormal iron studies, enabling clinicians to develop appropriate investigation and management strategies for patients presenting in primary care. In addition, attendees will review the recognition and management of hyperkalaemia, including common causes, treatment approaches, and strategies to reduce the risk of recurrence.

Further topics will include the identification, diagnosis, and management of testosterone…
