About the event

This workshop is designed specifically for non-clinical reception staff, providing them with valuable insights into a range of acute health conditions. It aims to enhance their knowledge and understanding in several key areas, including how to assess and manage interactions with acutely ill patients over the phone. Participants will learn to identify the signs and symptoms of acute illness in both adults and children, as well as recognise indicators of psychiatric emergencies. The workshop also covers the presentation of serious medical conditions and emphasises the crucial role non-clinical team members play in managing these challenging scenarios.  The topics covered include common emergency and urgent symptoms such as chest pain, breathing difficulties, sepsis, and the signs of a stroke. Additional areas of focus include recognising deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE), identifying fever in children, and responding to psychiatric emergencies.
