About the event

Aim:

To increase   participants’ knowledge of contraception, enabling them to promote positive   sexual health and support patients with contraception decision making

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the course participants will   have:

a. increased   knowledge about the full range of contraceptive methods

b. the ability to   communicate more confidently with clients about contraception

c. increased   awareness of UKMEC, FSRH guidance and other resources that can be used to   support their work

d. discussed child   and adult safeguarding in the context of contraception provision

Programme:

· Introduction to   contraception

· Hormonal methods of   contraception

· LARC

· Barrier methods

· Fertility awareness

· Emergency   Contraception

· Contraceptive   consultations

· Sexual history taking

· Action plan

This is a specially designed   course for Registered Nurses and Nursing Associates introducing attendees to   all aspects of contraception. It will be an interactive day for a limited   number of delegates, encouraging participation and discussion. It will introduce   you to a range of resources to support your learning and have an emphasis on   safe practice.

Your facilitator is highly   experienced and engaging – you will have a really useful and enjoyable day’s   learning that gives you a broad understanding of all methods of   contraception, enabling you to talk to patients with knowledge and   confidence.
