Aims and Outcomes

• Update knowledge of competencies and skills needed to administer the ‘flu vaccine
• Demonstration of injection technique and administration of intranasal vaccines
• Identify groups recommended to receive ‘flu vaccine in the forthcoming ‘flu season
• Develop knowledge of the different ‘flu vaccines available
• Understand which vaccine should be given to different groups
• Provide advice for this ‘flu season to patients and their families
• How to maximise uptake and the safe delivery of vaccines
• Ensure that their practice is safe and effective
• Provide accurate and up to date information about the relevant diseases and vaccines to their patient/parents/carers.
• Support individuals to make informed choices about vaccination
• Promote public confidence in vaccination
• Know where to request expert specialist advice if required
• Deliver a high standard of care
• Demonstrate competence in vaccine storage, recording and administration
