About the event

This session is designed to build confidence and capability in understanding the financial landscape of general practice, equipping participants with the knowledge and tools needed to make informed, strategic decisions. 


Covering the core GP funding streams—including GMS, PMS and APMS contracts, alongside DES and LES income—the session will demystify how practices are funded and where key financial risks and opportunities sit. It will also explore premises funding (including notional rent), as well as the fundamentals of payroll and pensions, helping attendees understand the main cost drivers within a practice.


A key focus of the session will be on developing practical financial oversight. Participants will be supported to build a simple, effective dashboard that links finance with compliance and risk, enabling better visibility and control at practice level. 


The session will also touch on workforce development opportunities, including routes such as PMA diplomas, to support longer-term financial and operational sustainability.
